FAQ
Why does my chimney need to be swept?
Regular sweeping will reduce the risk of chimney fires by removing the build up of soot and creosote. It will also increase the efficiency of some appliances.
How often does my chimney need sweeping?
Smokeless fuel - at least once a year
Wood - quarterly, when in use
Oil or Gas - once a year
Do you sweep all kinds of flues?
Yes.
Will there be any mess made during the sweep?
It is very rare for any mess to be made. I bring floor sheets to every sweep and ensure I leave it as clean as it was when I arrived. If you have any concerns, feel free to cover anything you deem necessary in the room.
What happens to the soot?
After the sweep, the soot is bagged up into waste sacks. This is then left with the client to dispose of in the general waste dust bin, as advised to do so by the National Associations of Chimney Sweeps and the local authorities. If this is an issue, I can take this away for a small fee.
Will I get a sweep certificate?
Yes, as a member of the National Association of Chimney Sweeps I am able to issue an industry standard certificate for every sweep.
Do you have insurance?
Yes, I have full public liability insurance.
What form of payment do you accept?
Bank transfer, cash or cheque.
